Summer Dual Credit with North Lake College for Economics

Updated: Mar 8, 2021

Here is an amended version of Ms. Estrada's email. I have included on the parts that are relevant to us (rising 12th graders). Please email alestrada@uplifteducation.org if you have any questions.

General Info

  • All current 11th grade (rising 12th) scholars will be able to take ECON 2301 - Principles of Macroeconomics.

  • Econ is a course required for graduation, so if you do not take it over the summer through dual credit, you will need to take it (either AP or on-level microeconomics or macroeconomics) during the school year. Many scholars opt to take them over the summer to open up room in their schedule for a semester Study Hall course.

  • Courses will be taken through North Lake College but will be offered online and asynchronously (scholars work independently with ongoing assignments and deadlines set by the professor). You will still be able to get a North Lake ID and will have access to resources on campus if you are interested in using them.

  • You can register to take your course during either summer session. Each course will run 5 weeks. Your class won't have a specific meeting day or time so it shouldn't matter that Session 1 overlaps with our last week of school: Summer Session 1: June 3rd - July 3rd; Summer Session 2: July 6th - August 7th
