AP exam season is coming up! Here are some details you should know:
- Exams will be full-length this year.
- College Board is offering three administrations of the exams this year: one in early May, one in late May, and one in early June. Here is the schedule for the three administrations: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/exam-administration-ordering-scores/exam-dates?SFMC_cid=EM439162-&rid=165506185
- North Hills is offering only digital exams, excluding teachers at our school from choosing any Administration 1 date. All North Hills AP exams will take place during Administration 2 or during Administration 3. Your teacher will decide in which administration you are taking the exam.
--> Exception: AP French Language and Culture & AP Spanish Language and Culture is ONLY offered in person (as per College Board) and must be taken at school. Mrs. Biela has allowed an exception for these two exams as they must be taken in person. See below for the most updated schedule to find out which administration is offered at North Hills.
- Though exams are full length, depending on the exam, the digital version might slightly differ from the paper version due to testing security purposes. Additionally, you will not be able to go back and forth between multiple-choice questions on the digital exam. This means that if you skip a question, you cannot go back to it. Neither can you go back to questions you've already answered. Here is the document outlining the differences between the paper and digital exams: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-2021-exam-formats.pdf
- Technical requirements for the digital exams can be found here: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap-2021/updates/digital-exams and the full-length digital testing guide can be found here: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-digital-testing-guide.pdf
Basically, there will be a digital testing application, dedicated to the specific exam that you will have to install before you take the test. If you complete the pre-exam setup on one computer, you MUST use the same computer on exam day.
- You are not permitted to use notes or unauthorized resources on the digital exam.
- NO handwritten work will be accepted. ALL work and responses must be typed in. If you are taking a math or chemistry exam, do not panic as the exam application will contain all the symbols you need to show your work.
- You need a reliable internet connection but do not worry about momentarily losing connection in in the middle of your test. The application is made so that your answers save locally and so that once the internet returns, they will automatically upload.
