Email about Upcoming ACT

In case you didn't receive it, here is the email Ms. Estrada sent out to those taking the ACT next week:

Hello Uplift North Hills Juniors (and Families),

I am writing to confirm that you will be taking the ACT, on-campus at UNHP, on Tuesday, March 30th

Here are a few details to help you prepare for Test Day!

Location:

  • Everyone will be testing on campus in the A&S and Main Buildings.

  • Ms. Estrada will email you your exact room assignment on Monday, March 29th and you can confirm your location during check-in on Test Day.

  • Scholars attending class on campus will also be in the A&S Building in a separate room.

Safety Protocols:

  • All social distancing expectations and Uplift safety protocols will be enforced during the test day.

  • Scholars will need to complete the Luminare screening prior to coming to campus, they will need to pass the screening and receive and green screen in order to sit for the ACT. If they do not pass and receive a red screen, they will need to be cleared by our nurse or they will not be allowed on campus (see more details below).

  • Scholars will be required to wear face masks (they should arrive with a mask on), the number of scholars in each room has been reduced, and desks will be spaced so scholars are always 6 ft apart.

  • We will have disposable mask (for those that forget them or need a new one during the day), gloves and hand sanitizer and we will make sure the common areas are cleaned frequently throughout the day.

  • Scholars will be held accountable for meeting social distancing guidelines: only 1 student can only go to the bathroom at a time, and they need to stay 6 ft apart at all times (in the rooms, hallway, outside, etc.)

  • Administration and staff will be assisting in monitoring scholars to ensure everyone remains social distanced and follows all required safety protocols.

Arrival/Morning Carline:

  • Scholars should arrive between 7:45 and 8:15 am. For safety reasons, we cannot receive students earlier than 7:45 am.

  • Please make sure that you have completed your health screening PRIOR to arriving on campus with Luminare. Please bookmark the link: Click here for the link

  • Upon arrival, you will need to show the green screen to your screener and tell us the animal of the day. Note: several families have reported that they must scroll up on their smart phones when you receive the green screen to see the animal.

  • If you end up with a red screen, make sure you entered all of the information correctly (it is easy to click the wrong option on accident if this is your first time) and then notify Ms. Estrada, you will not be allowed in the buildings if you have a red screen and are not cleared by our nurse (this means you are waiting for COVID results, have been recently exposed, are exhibiting COVID related symptoms or have tested positive recently).

  • Each student will have their temp taken prior to entering the building.

  • If you arrive after 8:15 am, you will be required to park your car and go to the main office for the health screening.

Dismissal/Afternoon Carline:

  • Scholars will finish testing at approximately 12:45 pm (for Standard Time) and will be dismissed immediately.

  • Scholars should be picked up no later than 1:00 pm.

  • Parents should enter the parking lot and park in the open area next to the Arts & Science building and wait for your scholar to be dismissed. Due to social distancing requirements, students must remain in their classroom until we dismiss.

  • Scholars will meet you in the parking lot after dismissal.

  • Students may not be unattended in classrooms or in front of the school, therefore all students must be picked up by 1:00 pm.

Student Driver Information for Morning Carline:

  • Student drivers should make sure that you have completed your health screening PRIOR to arriving on campus with Luminare. Please bookmark the link: Click here for the link

  • You will need to have a green screen through Luminare to take the PSAT. If you end up with a red screen, make sure you entered all of the information correctly (it is easy to click the wrong option on accident if this is your first time) and then notify Ms. Estrada, you will not be allowed in the buildings if you have a red screen and are not cleared by our nurse (this means you are waiting for COVID results, have been recently exposed, are exhibiting COVID related symptoms or have tested positive recently).

  • Student drivers should pull to the right at the SAC for a temperature check. You must arrive on campus between 7:45 am and 8:15 am for the screening.

  • You will show your green screen (from Luminare) to the staff member on duty and will have your temperature checked.

  • Once you pass the screening, you will continue in carline, and proceed to the student parking lot.

  • If you do not pass the screening, you will continue to the nurse’s station for next steps.

  • You will park in the student lot and report directly to your assigned testing room.

Student Driver Information for Afternoon Carline:

  • Student drivers will be dismissed at approximately 12:45 pm. You are expected to exit the building, go directly to your vehicle, and exit the campus.

Scholars Dress Code:

  • Students may wear any clothing that follows the same guidelines for fit and length as comparable to the uniform. Jeans are fine, leggings are fine, sweats are fine. Any school appropriate shirt. NO HOODIES and NO JACKETS WITH POCKETS, we will follow the same rules as IB and this is something they don’t allow.

What to Bring on Test Day:

  • You should bring pencils, a calculator, and a photo ID; any school ID (even the one from last year), driver’s license, passport, state ID, etc. will do.

  • We will not have calculators available for scholars to use, make sure to bring your own calculator. If you do not have one to use, reach out to Ms. Estrada and let her know – alestrada@uplifteducation.org

  • You can bring a water bottle but everything will need to be placed under your desk.

  • All phones/smart watches will need to be turned off and placed under your desk or need to be left in your car.
