AP Exam Updates from College Board

Updated: May 18, 2020

UPDATE (5/18): The College Board has sent out another email stating that if your file submission does not go through on the day of the AP Exam, they will immediately give you an email to which you can submit your response.

The College Board has been sending out emails with more details regarding this year's Advanced Placement Exams.

- For information about the new format and details directly related to the WHAP exam, visit https://unhpclassof2022.wixsite.com/2022/post/2020-whap-exam-format

- Practice questions are available in AP Classroom, but they still have 7 documents. To practice for the exam, you might want to practice writing DBQs according to the new rubric and remove 2 of the 7 documents. I recommend using Mr. Rash's practice modified DBQs on Google Classroom and attending his review sessions.

- Please use this checklist from the College Board to ensure that you have everything you need leading up to, on the day of, and after the AP exam: https://click.e.collegeboard.org/?qs=4be7e291c27961f38010bf8fc356042bbdc2add65549e6dbe07064bb0707d59876bcb39dd863a120b588962f45bee7a749e771451137672a65c23a11ed91e3bf

- AP Exam Demo: You can practice submissions through the exam demo, which will give you click-through practice for the different ways to submit your responses to this year's AP Exams. This is a great opportunity to get familiar with the virtual testing environment to help you avoid technical difficulties on the day of the exam. However, remember that the demo will be generic across subjects, and not a practice exam.

- Two Days Before Exams (Tue 5/19 @ 1 PM for WHAP): You'll receive an email with your exam e-ticket 48 hours before your exam.

- The College Board has posted video tutorials to help you understand how the virtual testing environment will work. It would be a good idea to review them before the exam. The entire playlist is embedded below, but if you've been keeping up with everything else on the blog posts, the only new thing you should check out is this video (also embedded directly below) which demonstrates what the online testing experience will be like (Exam Walkthrough): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHZ2zpqlZNE&feature=youtu.be&SFMC_cid=EM305180-5553&rid=76557023

Specifically for WHAP:

- Mr. Heimler (another AP History teacher who seems to have been an examiner in the past) has posted examples of DBQs in the new format with the grades he would give them. It might be helpful to check them out: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/58b469f1b8a79bfb05c25f3b/t/5ea07ce0fae144382bd90468/1587576051674/AP+World+DBQs+Heimler.pdf

- As the WHAP Exam comes closer, if you have some time, please work on the WHAP Collaborative Document. It will help you study as well as provide a valuable resource during the AP exam: https://unhpclassof2022.wixsite.com/2022/post/collaborative-whap-document
